Named after the popular bird ("warkaa" in Arabic) similar to the dove, Al-Warkaa, the main community is divided into five sub-districts, numbered 1 through 5. Al-Warkaa subgroups 1, 2, 3 and 4 are mostly residential. and Al Warqaa 5 is made up of the various elements that make up the Dubai Safari Park. Dubai Safari, built at Al Warqa 5 on Aweer Road on an area of 400 hectares, includes a safari park, butterfly park, golf courses, entertainment and recreational areas. Dubai Safari replaces the ailing Dubai Zoo. 2,500 animals of about 250 species were relocated to the new location.
