Dubai Creek Tower to receive a new design.
Next year, Dubai's leading developer, Emaar, will commence construction on a project that promises to surpass the Burj Khalifa in height. This ambitious project, known as the Dubai Creek Tower, was initially announced back in 2016 as an observation tower that would stand taller than the Burj Khalifa upon completion. Currently, it is undergoing a reconstruction phase.
Founder of Emaar Properties, Mohammed Alabbar, has stated that the building will undergo a transformation by a leading international firm, surpassing several major global competitors and emerging as the winner in a design competition.
He said, 'We plan to develop a new project concept over the next 7-8 months and begin construction within a year.'
Here's what is known about the design of the Dubai Creek Tower: The tower draws inspiration from the lily flower, shaping itself like a minaret. Its central feature will be an elongated oval-shaped 'bud,' atop which will be some of the world's highest observation decks.
Upon completion, the Dubai Creek Tower, standing at a minimum of 1,310 meters, is likely to set several significant records:
- Record-breaking cable length: 110 kilometers, weighing over 18,000 tons. Experts estimate that if these cables were laid end-to-end on the ground, they would stretch from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
- World record for foundation: 145 barrettes, each at a depth of over 60 meters, with a total length exceeding 9 kilometers. The cap of these piles contains over 45,000 cubic meters of concrete, equivalent to the volume of 6,700 trucks.
- The 'bud' of the tower, equivalent in height to an 80-story building, is constructed using 12,000 tons of steel, while its 'stem' will be built with 240,000 cubic meters of concrete, equivalent to 40,000 trucks.
- The tower will be located just 10 minutes away from Dubai International Airport, near the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Dubai Creek Tower project is estimated to cost Dubai approximately $1 billion USD and is expected to serve as an iconic landmark for the region, glorifying the emirate with the title of the world's tallest structure. The tower's appearance will be truly spectacular, resembling a spire-needle soaring into the sky amid a cluster of other buildings resembling the petals of an unfolding flower. The structure is likely to serve as a museum and the world's highest observation deck and tourist attraction. A more precise description of what will be housed within the building is currently unknown."
